Kyle and Larissa's Big Adventure

by:

GM: Paul

Larissa: Bonnie

Kyle: Brian

Kyle's Tomcat, Cat: Brian

Everyone Else: Paul. (That's what GMs do, you know.)

For those just tuning in:

What we have here is basically a chat transcript of an Amber role playing session, and a special kind of Amber contribution, a pre-game adventure. This is an adventure that took place in a period prior to game start, involving Kyle and Larissa as they were a couple of Amber years back. The value in this sort of contribution is twofold: It is an opportunity for the GM to fill in some game background, and, perhaps, more deeply root his campaign plots in history, and it is an opportunity for two or more players to see how their characters react to each other, where often in worlds-spanning games like Amber, it may take years for their characters to meet in play. The campaign is Strange Bedfellows, run by Paul Weimer. Kyle, run by Brian is a son of Brand, and Larissa, run by Bonnie, is a daughter of Dalt. They've known each other a short time at this point. One the consumate mage, the other the ideal warrior, their friendship is the type that oft leads to the making of a tale, and that is what we have here.

This is the second of their early adventures, the first being Sword Play which was written up much like a script to a movie or play. It was also run live by Paul. This is more of a direct transcript. The only OOC comments left in were generally those pertaining to character actions, the rest were edited out for consistancy. We hope you enjoy are little adventure, and, perhaps if you have a friend with the question of "What is this roleplaying thing you do?" it will provide an adequate example.

Part 1: The Ball

GM: It's Early September, in the Eternal City of Amber...the leaves on the trees just on the verge of beginning their long change into the colors of fall. Here, near the tail end of Summer, Princesses Flora and her daughter Asteria have decreed a ball , a respite from the work and drudgery associated, often, with castle life.

GM: Larissa, you have arrived in Amber 2 seasons ago and this is really only about the second ball you have been invited to...the first at Midsummer. Kyle, on the other hand, of course attends many of these court functions, whilst he is in Amber. And he so happens to be, this time around.

LARISSA: Hmm does this mean it is the point where I find dresses in my closet by Flora?

GM: Yes, it does.

KYLE ::putting on his dancing shoes::

GM: The ball is at the hour of eight, in the main hall of Amber. Right now, it's early afternoon.

GM: What are you doing?

LARISSA: Larissa stares into the closet at the monstrosity that she needs to put on. . .decisions decisions. . .hm..

KYLE: Kyle is in his chambers, the laboratory room. Fussing about with a big silver egg.

LARISSA: Larissa decides this once to don the little black number but she isn't to sure after she puts it on.

GM: (Note to the both of you, at this point, just feel free to do it freestyle until we get you two to meet.)

LARISSA: Doesn't seem to cover much up. . .

GM: Larissa, youremember that Asteria once said, "A little black dress makes a big impression on the guys."

GM: This must be why one has shown up in your closet.

KYLE: (Still playing with his egg.) Making it do stupid egg tricks like levitate, fly around the room, disappear and reappear, all seemingly with no magical effort. His cat is watching impatiently, swishing its broken tail.

CAT: "Bah! Stage magic. I saw the egg go under your cloak last time."

LARISSA: I can tell just what kind of impression Asteria wants. Guess everyone will be talking to my boobs instead of my face tonight.

KYLE: "Well, there is something to be said for keeping sharp. Can't rely on magic entirely."

CAT: "I don't see the relevance."

LARISSA: Larissa slips on her heels and does her hair up into a french twist. Then she applies some light makeup and a simple gold necklace.

KYLE:"It's all relevant, my little friend."

CAT: "Bah." Goes off to harrass rodents, but not Hounds. Tail still healing.

LARISSA: She reluctantly leaves her sword behind as she makes her way to the event.

KYLE: Kyle makes a few more passes with the egg, then lays it aside and starts getting prepared for the ball.

GM: All right, about the hour of six, Larissa, you get yourself fully prepared, and head out of your rooms. The Castle is a bustle tonight. . .some sort of dignitary party from various Golden circle shadows is here, possibly attending the ball.

KYLE: Black pants, copper shirt, black jacket with copper buttons. Heads for the kitchens to see what's on the menu.

GM: In any event, their functionaries have flooded the first floor, as Larissa navigates the seas of people.

LARISSA: :I hate crowds:

GM: All right, Kyle, getting intothe Kitchens is going to take some doing..Michael is on the job and wants nothing to interfere with the event.

GM: How do you proceed, kyle?

KYLE: Kyle, being the mage he is, sweet talks Michael.

KYLE: "Michael, my good fellow, I simply must see what is on the menu. We have dignitaries who need to know."

GM: "Lord Kyle, you must realize that the Princess Flora wants nothing to go wrong with tonight's event...and I do remind you of the time that the gazpacho wound up hot. . .after a visit from you." He crosses his arms.

KYLE: "Ah, well, I'll tell the Bhegman ambassador that the food is quite alright then. Just hope that nothing affects his niece's allergies."

GM: In the meantime, Larissa has crossed into the main hall...also known as the Throne Room when Random is in Court.

GM (To Larissa): Here, she can find some respite from the crowds...since save the musicians in the gallery, there isn't a lot going on,and its quiet.

GM (To Kyle): Michael nods to Kyle in agreement

GM: What are the two of you doing?

LARISSA: She finds a spot from which she can watch the goings on but not be a part of it.

KYLE: Kyle shrugs and walks away, whistling a toon. He makes a corner, then conjures a fairly disgusting looking rat into the middle of the kitchens.

GM: Okay, there isn't much to watch thus far, but you can find a nice corner.

GM: As Kyle walks away, he hears some cursing and yelling, and the banging of pots and pans.

KYLE: He peeks around the corner, seeing if Michael has left his post.

LARISSA: Larissa looks to see if and of the elders have arrived

GM: Yes...Michael is exhorting his cooks to get the rat.

GM (to Larissa): You see Flora is here, talking to the musicians. Random has not yet arrived. . .but Gerard and his sons have.

KYLE: He sneaks in. Lifts a few pot lids. Pokes his fingers in a few dishes. Palms a canape.

LARISSA: Larissa makes her way over to Gerard and his sons

GM: Okay, Kyle can see that the food tonight is mainly fish dishes...not a lot of red meat...some game.

GM: Gerard nods to Larissa as she approaches, but Pollux steps toward her.

"Ah, hello Larissa. Glad you could make it."

Castor adds. "You look great! You're going to turn heads for sure."

KYLE: Sneaks out. Cancells the rat after he makes his get away. Heads for the ballroom.

LARISSA: Larissa tries to keep from blushing,"Well that is Aunt Flora's doing."

GM: Pollux bows. "That I doubt highly...for no matter how pretty a present's wrapping, it does not change what is inside."

KYLE: Tosses the canape in the air, catches it in his mouth. Mmm.

GM: Gerard puts a hand on his son's shoulder. "Boys, let us give Larissa a bit of needed space."

GM: Kyle, you finally make your way to the main hall, where preparations are underway

LARISSA: Larissa smiles at Gerard,"thanks. So why are we having this party?"

GM: The musicians are here...and you see in the middle of the room, the imposing sight of Gerard and his sons...and Larissa.

As if on cue, Aunt Flora steps from the musicians toward the knot.

"Is an excuse for a party really necessary, dear Larissa?" she says, sweetly,

"A party is an end in and of itself, of course."

"I must say, child, that you take to my suggestions on appearance rather well." she adds

LARISSA: Larissa shrugs,"Whatever you say Aunt Flora."

KYLE: Kyle heads for the musicians. Waves merrily. "How's it going guys? See you've got another castle gig, huh?"

GM: The burly horn player puts down his instrument and nods to Kyle. "Yes, sir, Prince Kyle. Always glad for Royal coin."

KYLE: "What's on the program tonight?" Eyes a keyboard. (piano, harpsicord, organ, whichever it is)

GM: Flora: "Well, dear, remind me to show you to the Ambassador from Deiga, later. He's right about your age...a prodigy in his field, to be named to the post so young."

GM: Horn Player: "The usual favorites of her highness Princess Flora...a variety of simple, yet instrument filled minuets."

LARISSA: Larissa gets a look of horror on her face. Good gawd Aunt Flora is matchmaking. How do I get out of this?

GM: Pollux looks at Larissa and then rubs his chin.

LARISSA: "Um, well I doubt he is my type."

GM: Pollux: "Hey, larissa, let me introduce you to the musicians. I see cousin Kyle is there."

LARISSA: Larissa quickly accepts.

KYLE: Kyle yawns expressively. "What about the King's favorites? Are you all familiar with jazz?" Gestures to keyboard. "May I?"

GM: The keyboardist gets up and curtseys to Kyle, letting him access to the instrument.

KYLE: Sits at keyboard, cracks knuckles. What a bunch of stiffs. . .

GM: "No, milord, we have not learned jazz...it is something that Princess Flora did not wish played, though."

KYLE: Kyle starts with a couple of scales. "OK, listen to this, jump in when you have the beat." Starts playing some energetic notes...

GM: As you sit at the keyboard, Kyle, you see Pollux approach, along with a young dark haired woman with violet eyes.

GM: "Kyle...you're not going to annoy aunt flora, are you" Pollux says.

KYLE: "C'mon, Pollux, you know you like a little spice in your music. Festivities haven't started yet anyway."

LARISSA: Larissa gives a quirky grin, "If it will annoy Aunt Flora then by all means play."

GM: Pollux, turns and points to Kyle. "Have you met Kyle, before, Larissa. I think you might have...he IS Luke's half brother"

KYLE: (Is the band catching on, or in awe of all the royalty?)

GM: "Kyle...this is Larissa. Stop fooling with the music and say hello."

KYLE: To Pollux: "Yes, we are still trying to sort out which half." Smiles.

LARISSA: Larissa nods,"Yes I know Kyle. Good evening cousin."

GM: Aunt Flora by the way, is looking daggers to the band

GM: Castor is smiling, Gerard is indifferent

GM: Jazz music is starting to infect the atmosphere of the hall.

KYLE: Rises and bows over Larissa's hand, "How could I ever forget such a charming relation?" Makes a waving down gesture to the band to cool it covertly, behind his back.

GM: The music starts to die off within a few moments, and back to more medieval tunes.

KYLE: Kyle in a stage whisper to band: "We'll jam later, best not to annoy my aunt" Conspirital wink.

LARISSA: Larissa notices Aunt Fiona's looks,"Think you may have already caused some waves."

KYLE: Shakes hands with Castor and Pollux, and greets Gerard.

GM: Pollux shrugs. "Did you think we couldn't avoid that, good cousin."

GM: Castor: "Hey, Kyle."

GM: Gerard: "Good evening, nephew."

GM: "LIfe's too short not to have a few waves."

GM: Pollux: "Speaking of waves, here is the big one in Lorius' life..." Pollux glances to the door...coming in is Noys, in a silver gown.

KYLE: Kyle has a bit of a bruise under one eye, almost gone. Says to Gerard: "I've been taking your advice and getting out more, uncle, just back from Shadow."

LARISSA: Larissa looks over in that direction and her manner becomes more guarded.

GM: Gerard: "It is well to hone your body as well as your mind."

GM: Noys walks over to Aunt Flora and begins to chat with her, out of earshot

LARISSA: Larissa nods at what Gerard says.

GM: Pollux smiles to Larissa. "Just as the converse is true. I do hope you liked the gift of the puzzle cube, Larissa."

LARISSA: (?)

KYLE: Kyle turns toward Noys and smiles brightly. Waves.

GM: (Rubik's cube...Pollux likes them)

LARISSA: Larrisa nods,"Yes it was fun but didn't take to long to solve."

GM: Noys turns her head and sees Kyle's wave. She comes over. "Hello everyone. Dear Kyle. Hello Pollux. . .Castor. . .Uncle Gerard. Good evening, cousin Larissa."

KYLE: Bows to Noys.

LARISSA: Larissa nods in greeting,"Hello Noys."

GM: Pollux steps a moment and looks to the doorway. "Oh, joy, now the party is ruined."

GM: Coming into the doorway is a tall man, perhaps 6'1" tall. His head is shaved tonsure style.

GM: Kyle slides a look from Noys to Larissa, back to Noys. "Now, how can the party be ruined with such beauties as these already present?" Extends one elbow to each lady.

GM: You do not recognize him directly, but have seen him before.

GM: Noys smiles. "Well, I do hope that good Lorius will attend, of course."

LARISSA: Larissa just gives Kyle an amused looks, used to his flirting.

LARISSA:"I don't believe I know that gentleman's name."

GM: The tonsure-headed man briefly looks around and then begins talking to someone who is obscured by his large frame.

GM: Pollux frowns. "That is Lord Darcy Chaven, priest of the church of the Unicorn. He brings new life to the words 'party pooper'. I wonder why he is here."

LARISSA: Shrugs. "To poop the party?"

KYLE: To Noys: "I am certain good cousin Lorius wouldn't miss this for the world."

GM: Castor shrugs. "Don't mind my brother. Lord Chaven can be...standoffish sometimes."

GM: Pollux: "And sap the life out of any fun within a fifty meter radius."

KYLE: Laughs. "Perhaps it is our solemn duty to ensure our friend has a good time, then?"

GM: Gerard. "Boys, that is rather opiniated of the both of you. The Royal family does have good relations with the Church."

LARISSA: "Perhaps he has a reason for the way he acts."

GM: At this point, the room is starting to fill up, but there is no sign of King Random yet.

KYLE: "Let us make him welcome!"

KYLE: "Let's give him a proper welcome!" Tries to head that way with Larissa in tow. (as if he could tow her...)

GM: Pollux and Castor chuckle. "See you two kids later...have fun with gloomy gus."

GM: The pair of them drift in the opposite direction

GM: Gerard shrugs, and roves his eyes around.

LARISSA: Larissa whispers to Kyle, "He doesn't look happy."

GM: Noys turns toward the female keyboardist and begins talking to her

LARISSA: How interesting.

KYLE: Kyle, foiled, turns to Larissa, "Looks like it's just you, me and the giant zombie here." to Gerard, "Would you care to join us in a refreshement, Uncle, I see the punch bowls are coming out already?"

GM: (okay, are the two of you still determined to visit Lord Chaven)

KYLE: (Kyle is foiled)

LARISSA: (Not if I don't have to)

GM: Gerard turns to Kyle. "I will visit the refreshment tables with you two. A good drink is in order." Gerard takes a large step toward the tables, turning slightly to see if you two will follow.

KYLE: "I'll second that!"

LARISSA: Larissa will follow

GM: The three of you get to the punch bowl, and Gerard gratefully pours cups of punch for the pair of you. In the meantime, you see that Lord Chaven is talking with Aunt Flora, and the pair of them are headed toward the punch. You can hear part of their conversation...

"...disappointed, Lady Flora, that the punch contains alcohol. Work of the serpent, the demon alcohol is, a depravity of vice and sin."

KYLE (to Gerard): "Thank you." (are we alone at the punch? the 3 of us)

GM: Flora just laughs and brings her large charge in your direction

GM: (aside from a guard sneaking some, yes)

LARISSA: "..work of the devil? sheesh."

GM: "Kyle, Larissa, I have someone I want you two to meet." Flora says, in a cheery voice.

LARISSA: Larissa gives a sigh and turns toward the pair

GM: Almost reluctantly, Lord Chaven and Flora converge on the punchbowl, and the three of you.

KYLE: Kyle to Chaven: "My dear Lord Chaven, don't you know that Dworkin invented alcohol? That serpent swill is merely a reflection of Amber's finest concoction, a devine nectre if there ever was one."

GM: Lord Chaven knits his brow and looks at Kyle. Flora tries to recover.

LARISSA: Larissa has to keep from spitting out her drink from laughing.

GM: "I am sure, Lord Chaven, that you know my brother, Prince Gerard."

GM: Gerard nods to Chaven and looks at Kyle.

KYLE: Kyle smiles cheerfully, not spitefully, inviting Chaven to share in the jest.

GM: "But here are two members of our youngest generation. . .the Prince Kyle, and the Princess Larissa."

GM: "This is Lord Chaven, nominal head of the Church of the Unicorn."

GM: Larissa nods in greeting,"Pleased to meet you Lord Chaven."

KYLE: Kyle bows, promoted once again. Lets it go.

KYLE: "Ah, Prince Kyle, I find your opinion on alcohol...perhaps a little misguided, if I may be so bold."

GM: His voice has a rich baritone to it, belying his appearance.

LARISSA: Larissa looks to Gerard, "If I am not mistaken are we not cousins to all chaosites?"

GM: Gerard looks uncomfortable at Larissa's question. "I think my sister Fiona would be more apt to answer your question, Larissa."

LARISSA: Larissa shrugs,"Alright."

KYLE: "Certainly, certainly. I've always held that it is in excess that alcohol becomes burdensome. Excesses of anything are to be avoided, sir."

GM: Lord Chaven grows a little dark. "That is silliness, Princess Larissa. Cousins to the demonspawn. Your holy family could not be."

KYLE: "I think that perhaps it is our family who is most likely to know, my dear Chavin," kyle says mildly.

GM: Aunt Flora smiles beneficently. "Larissa is new to the Eternal City, please forgive the brashness of youth, Lord Chaven"

Larissa: Larissa raises an eyebrow,"Be careful Lord Chaven. Those out on pedlestools usually fall."d

GM: Aunt Flora: "Come, Lord Chaven. I believe that Prince Pollux and Prince Castor are over there."

Kyle: Kyle nods and winks, "Just a bit too much of the demon drink, Lord Chavin." Covertly squeezes Larissa's elbow.

GM: Lord Chaven shakes his head. "Actually, dear Princess, I think that I would like to converse with these youngsters, if I might."

Larissa: Larissa simply shrugs and then proceeds to take a nice long swig of her drink

GM: Lord Chaven smiles that sickening smile again.

Kyle: Kyle smiles to Flora, "Never fear, Aunt, he's in good hands."

GM: "I understand, Lord Kyle, that you are a magician?"

GM: Flora nods, and drifts off

Kyle: "I am a sorcerer and a conjurer, sir. I also do stage magic."

GM: Gerard, unnoticed, has also left, leaving the pair of you alone, at the moment with Lord Chaven

Larissa: To no one in particular,"Hmm I do believe Cousin Merlin is both Amberite and Chaosite and is now the King of Chaos. Wonder if he sees himself as the work of the Serpent."

Kyle: Kyle nods to his uncle.

GM: Lord Chaven nods. "If his is descent from Chaos, then he must bear Chaos within him."

Larissa: "Sure he does, also bears Order since he is Corwin's son."

GM: "But he is not here, fortunately, he keeps to his throne in the Courts."

Kyle: "Fortunately? Do you betray a predjudice toward one of the Blood of Amber? I believe his lineage is much purer than mine in that regard, sir." Eyeballs the geezer frostily.

Larissa: "Chaos and order make a perfect balance in logic and math."

GM: Chaven smiles. "Child, do you not know that Chaos is what Amber was founded to destroy?"

Kyle: "With the Serpent's Eye, no less."

GM: "That Holy Dworkin created the Pattern in order to overcome the evil of Chaos."

Kyle: "Your religion is born in Chaos, dear friend."

GM: Lord Chaven smiles. "The light of the truth of the unicorn's beauty and wisdom, perhaps, paradoxically, has not touched members of the royal family as it has I."

GM: "No matter. No matter at all." He crosses his arms

Larissa: Larissa laughs,"Dworkin created order because he wanted power, there was no altrustic motive."

Kyle: Kyle turns to Larissa: "Say, I wonder if it's still a high crime to defame the royal family?"

Kyle: Raises an eyebrow at Larissa's unkind remark about old Grampa Dworkin.

Larissa: Larissa nods gravely,"Yes I believe it is. Would you like the honor to defend our name or shall I?"

GM: Chaven raises and knits his eyebrows

Kyle: "I rather think we should call for the guards." Kyle smiles. "Really, we're all friends here. Excess is the sin, lord Chaven, including an excess of piety. It breeds uncomely predjudice."

GM: Chaven shakes his head. "I shall talk to you two both, perhaps another time, when you are more receptive for the Enlightment destined for you."

Larissa: Larissa holds in a chuckle

Larissa: Larissa smiles,"See you at my funeral then."

Kyle: "Be well, Lord Chaven. May the Unicorn have mercy on you for your sins."

GM: Chaven bows to the pair of you, and starts to walk away. He does not respond to your comments

Larissa: Larissa looks to Kyle,"Well he is a lot of hot wind. Wonder how much ass he kissed to get where he is?"

Kyle recieves a Trump call from Martin, offstage.

Kyle: "Our dear cousin Martin is on the line. He offers a salve for your temper." >Cuts her into the trump call.

GM: Martin smiles and grins...he is at the far side of the Hall

GM: "Hey guys, I was trying to pry you two free of Lord Chaven the Mighty, but I see you drove him away"

Larissa: "I am afraid our sin and darkness was to much for him."

GM: Martin laughs, perhaps already a little enebriated.

Kyle: "Ah, shall we join you over there?" Kyle smiles at Larissa's comment.

GM: "Why, he called me...once, a slave to the Demon rum...I didn't have dad kill him, and I am not sure why."

Kyle: "Seems a bit of a hypocrite to preach to the 'devine' family the way he does. And an awful bore."

GM: "I do warn you though...this party of yours might be slightly ruined with him here...he might keep bothering you all night."

Larissa: "Wonder just how far above us he thinks he is?"

GM: Martin shrugs. "Puritans have the furthest to fall, that's all."

Larissa: Larissa,"Oh his falling doesn't bother me, just who and what he takes out on the way down."

Kyle: Kyle nods in agreement.

GM: Martin nods. "Heck, even Lady Alandra is less radical than Chaven, and friendlier to boot."

Larissa: Larissa,"Lady Alandra?"

Kyle: "Well, what do you suggest, Martin? Perhaps we should blow this joint?"

GM: Martin nods "Priestess of the Unicorn. She thinks Amber is superior, etc etc, but even she doesn't go prosletyizing like Chaven"

Larissa: Larissa scans the crowd for Flora

GM: Flora is at the center of the room talking with her daughter

GM: Both of them keep giving glances to the doorways, looking for someone to arrive

Larissa: Larissa,"Well we need to move quick before Flora spots us leaving."

Kyle: "I wonder what they're waiting for? They seem distracted enough."

Larissa: Larissa,"Must be a guy."

GM: Martin offers. "Perhaps my father. The ball isn't really in session until he and Mom arrive."

GM: "If you guys are trying to get out, I think the southern entrance, down by me, is one they aren't looking for him to come through."

Larissa: "Doubt it. They are too anxious."

Kyle: "Aha, then we wouldn't be leaving the ball, technically."

Kyle: "OK, want to bring us through then?"

GM: Martin nods, and offers his hand

Kyle: takes it, nodding to Larissa. "Shall we?"

Larissa: Larissa nods and steps with Kyle

Kyle: ......

GM: the pair of you step through and to the southern side of the Main Hall.

GM: Martin glances toward Flora and Asteria and then returns to look at the pair of you

GM: He is dressed, interestingly enough, in a semi Rebman style, with a light shirt and short pants

GM: martin grins. "Come on cousins, get out while the going is good. Wish I could join ya, but Dad would be pissed."

Kyle: "Ah, you are our savior Martin."

GM: Martin grins and offers a trump to Kyle

GM: "Try this...it might be to your taste"

Larissa: "Thanks Martin. Good luck."

GM: Martin nods, and walks bravely forward to meet the enemy...Flora and Asteria

Kyle: Kyle takes the trump, looks it over. "Ah, not bad. Thanks, Martin. Luck." Kyle smiles.

Part Two: Escape to Paradise

GM: <stentorian voice> When last we left our beloved friends, Kyle, and Larissa, they had received a Trump from Martin for a place in shadow. . .

GM: A tropical shadow, with beaches and nightclubs, called Multtrixx

Kyle: Say, nice looking place, here Larissa. Shall we?

Larissa: Larissa shrugs," Better then here."

GM: The Trump looks like it will bring you in front of a place called the Blue Bruise

Kyle: ::Shrugs in return.::

Kyle: ::Kyle extends his arm in a gentlemanly fashion, so Larissa can come thru the trump with him::

Larissa: Larissa takes Kyle's arm

Kyle: ::Activates::

GM: The contact is a bit slow, possibly due to the distance...and suddenly the pair of you are there...on the sands of the boardwalk in front of the Blue Bruise.

Kyle: ::Breaths deeply of the ocean air::

GM: There is just one slight problem...those ARE snow flurries falling, aren't they? And where is everyone like you saw on the card

Kyle: ::Wipes snowflake from upturned nose::

Larissa: Larissa looks around,"Perhaps we came at a bad time?"

GM: The lights are working, everything seems fine except for those two things...and the both of you have chattering teeth

Kyle: Off season, perhaps?

Larissa: "This off? not likely. something is odd...."

GM: You two see what MUST be tropical plants...palms and what not. They don't look like they are enjoying this snow too much...clearly unused to it

Kyle: ::Kyle brings up Sight.:: (Magic work here?)

GM: A silver crescent moon also shines from up above.

Kyle: Definately odd.

GM: to Kyle: Yes, BUT Magic is going to be a bit difficult and unpredictable here.

GM: There seems to be something in the air...some long-field magic at work in this shadow, or some sort of Power here; you can't tell what it might be

Kyle: The aura of the place is *wrong*, hard to pin down.

Larissa:"Kyle do you think you could produce some warmer clothing, or at least a cape?"

GM: Looking around a bit more...the boardwalk extends in both directions...the major buildings perpendicular to it. The largest building seems to be to the left end of the boardwalk, although there seems to be many buildings around. But no people.

Kyle: Perhaps, but the results may be unpredictable. It may be safer to check the buildings. Or to shadow shift away.

Larissa: Alright shall we try the building on the left at the end?

Kyle: Seems as good a place as any. ::Flexes ring hand absently, looks that way.::

GM: The building in question looks, to Kyle at least, something resembling a casino-hotel of some kind. Tall, spired. Neon lights, maybe a quarter mile away

Kyle: ::As we get closer, scans for any wards or traps on the magical level, hoping Larissa is on guard for the more mechancial variety. Scans for psychic presences as well...life signs.::

GM: Larissa, anything else you doing?

Larissa: ::Larissa follows Kyle but is keeping her senses alert for trouble::

GM: Okay, the pair of you start walking down the boardwalk, the boards sturdy but slightly slippery in the cold snow flurries...as the pair of you get nearer to the 'Casino' you both start to hear a low pitched whine, coming from the building.

GM: Slight sense of something resembling a threat inside that building as you approach it, Larissa. Kyle, you do NOT sense any life forms or magical hazards yet

Kyle: Odd, that noise. (Sound alive or mechanical?) I wonder if this shadow has a tech level to support an automated threat? I'm not picking any vibes up from there at all.

Larissa: um we should be careful, something is really off in that building.

GM: (mechanical)

Larissa: ::Larissa pulls out her sword::

Kyle: (Is Larissa armed and armored or in evening wear? Got the sword...didn't think she'd leave home without it...)

GM: (Larissa was and is still in evening wear last we saw)

Kyle: ::Kyle will, try to cast his Readiness spell. Summon weapons and armor for two. Max dmg and def. Skip wpn for Larissa.::

Larissa: (yep evening ware but with the sword, don't leave home without it (GM note: Larissa’s sword seem to have been left behind in the Castle, but somehow Larissa managed to have it when she got to this shadow. Nice trick of that sword!)

GM: (what sort of weapons and armor exactly, Kyle?)

Kyle: ::set tech level lynchpin to blades, since I dunno about tech level.:: ::Try for silver chain mail, enchanted.:: (Guns and kevlar might be better here, but no telling if gunpowder works)

GM: all right...Kyle whips up his spell...and winds up with some sort of hard plastic mail, and the blades also made out of that same material.

GM: it's tough, it's hard, but it is NOT what you asked for

Kyle: Interesting. ::tests weight of sword, tries it on a tree...should mangle it if it's what he was looking for::

GM: It doesn't quite mangle the tree, but cuts it pretty good

GM: The whine has increased a bit...in both pitch and volume. It seems to be omni directional...not directed at you in particular, just emanating out 'naturally'

Kyle: ::dons the armor, passes the Larissa-fitted armor to her first though.::

Kyle: Maybe the armor will keep us warmer, at least.

GM: (by the way, the plastic mail is wearable, even if a bit chafe inducing)

Kyle: ::Keep on his lighter clothing underneath...avoid those chafes!::

Larissa: thanks :dons the armor: um interesting choice, assume this wasn't the look you and feel you were going for

Kyle: Not exactly. I was going for something a bit lower tech, just to be on the safe side. If I'd gone for kevlar and guns, we'd probably have a space ship right now...

Larissa: :eyebrow raises: and that would be a bad thing?

GM: All right, the pair of you don the plastic-armor and find it is a bit warmer with the stuff on.

Kyle: Anything unexpected could be bad in my line of work. ::smiles::

GM: Which is a good thing, since the wind picked up a bit from the water and it runs a chill down both of your spines

Kyle: ::Thinks that he'd better not try for any creatures, as there's no telling how far up the evolutionary line they'd be.::

GM: The pair of you are at the threshold of a building labelled "The Riven" now, and Kyle can tell it is definitely a Hotel-casino of some sort. That whine is still broadcasting, but besides the closed glass Doors, there is nothing amiss...

Larissa: :Larissa moves in front of Kyle and continues forward:

Larissa: ::Larissa tries knocking::

Kyle: A moment, dear cousin. I might try something a bit safer.::

GM: Inside the Doors (which are seemingly locked or not casually opened) are rows upon rows of strange machines with seats in front

Kyle: ::Walks up, idea discarded, peers in.::

GM: Kyle can recognize the machines for what they are...slot machines

Kyle: (is the door opened or closed at this point?)

GM: Doors are closed.

Kyle: ::Kyle steps back a pace, nods to Larissa to follow.:: I think I may be able to persuade these doors to open.

Larissa: Okay

Larissa: ::Larissa moves out of the way::

Kyle: ::Note: Kyle is moving WAY back...just in case.::

Kyle: ::Casts patented Invisible Gauntlets::

GM: All right..Kyle manages to cast the spell and he thinks that they are working as advertised. Larissa can't see a blessed thing...

Kyle: ::Kyle flexes his arms, from the elbow down, as if settling on a pair of gloves, and reaches....tries the doors of the Casino::

GM: trying the door how? opening, wrenching, pulling?

Kyle: ::Applying steady pressure. If it looks hinged to push, he pushes , if to pull, he pulls. ::

GM: All right, it seems that the Doors open outward and so, I imagine, Kyle pulls...and with a steady strong application of force...

GM: the Door flies open with one last pull. As you do so, the sound gets a sudden boost in volume.

Kyle: (painfully so or just loud?)

Larissa: That is not a good omen!

Kyle: Milady, the way is clear. ::makes short bow, readjusts invis. guantlets...pulling them closer, to guard his immedate area::

GM: (sure, send in the poor lady first. some gentleman)

Larissa: ::larissa caustiously enters::

GM: Larissa cautiously enters the building, crossing the threshold of the Door. As she does so, the light level of the area beyond the door increases, and focuses on Larissa like a spotlight.

GM: Larissa, trouble meter has jumped a notch. Not immediate but present danger.

Kyle: ::Kyle follows closely behind:: ::Still nothing on the mental plane?::

Larissa: ::thinking to herself....oh that is not good::

GM: Kyle, you start to sense *something* on the mental plane but its very...alien.

Kyle: You seem to be the center of attention, cousin. ::Looking for light source.::

Kyle: ::Does the armor have a visor? Shaded?::

GM: open face helmet

Larissa: hmm Not something I like to be

Kyle: ::Feels along path of beam with IG. Tries to find spot light.::

GM: The spot light is recessed into the ceiling. It is clearly connected to some larger subsystem however

GM: and then a voice...disused, uncertain but loud comes...

GM: "Who comes? Who invades? Who disturbs?" It's almost a questioning tone

Kyle: We were just passing through, actually. A friend reccomended this place for a vacation.

Kyle: ::sotto voce to Larissa::> I think we've stumbled on a genuine nutty AI.

GM: The voice rebukes. I did not inquire of the other. I inquire of the lighted one

Kyle: ::Thinking to himself:Where's Cpt Kirk when you need him?::

Larissa: I came to get away from someplace i did not wish to be, I mean no harm

Kyle: ::Looking around for controls, computers, terminals...tech stuff.::

Kyle: ::Refraining for now from backtalking our 'host'::

GM: All that is apparent in the immediate area is slot machines of various kinds

GM: "You may not leave until Unity is achieved. Do not disturb the body, but you may not leave until Unity is achieved."

Kyle: ::Searching for the "mind" behind the voice...thinking in mechanical terms now. Computer terms.::

GM: Larissa, actions?

Larissa: Unity? has someone disturbed the Unity of this place?

GM: Unity is disturbed. Unity must be achieved. Do not disturb the body else Unity cannot be achieved and the bioorganism will be liquidated

GM: Kyle: The mind seems a bit scattered at this point...no concentration here at least.

Kyle: ::Carefully moving through the room, trying to find the control center...the place that all casinos have with all of the montiors for spying on the gamers, the nerver center..::

Larissa: I will comply (said to the voice)

Kyle: ::Kyle gives Larissa an encouraging look as he moves out, as if telling her to keep it talking.::

GM: Kyle, you start walking through the casino, and after a few minutes, you find what seems to be the entrance to the nerve center...there is just one problem.

GM: There is magic here, a fairly strong magic field surrounding the thing. Much like a force field in nature.

Kyle: ::Hmm...::

Kyle: ::Sighs:: ::Hoping Larissa is ready for a big noise....attempts to batter the barrier aside with the IGs.::

Kyle: ::Examining its structure and reactions with Sight::

GM: It seems to be a cross between a control room and something out of Colossus the Forbin project...from what you can see anyhow...shielding is making details a bit muddled.

GM: The IGs are expended in trying to break the barrier, with no good results.

Kyle: ::Frees him up for more delicate work then. Any signs of lightning from the heavens?::

Kyle: ::He'll try to work on the spell with magecraft, psyche, and a hacker's instincts.::

GM: no signs of lightning

Kyle: ::Working at it, then, until he sees an alternative.::

Larissa: Please define Body?

Larissa: (keeping the thing talking if possible)

GM: The Body is the components of the realm. The components of the realm make my body. Do not disturb the Body

GM: The spotlight stops shining on Larissa...and focuses on the hacker, er Kyle.

GM: "Why do you disturb the Body?"

Kyle: To get to the other side?

Kyle: ::Tosses a Power Word Magic Negate at the barrier and drives in with a full frontal assault on the barrier to try to knock it down.::

Larissa: Oh he is not going to like that

GM: All right...Kyle...you throw the gauntlet down...and within seconds your attack opens a hole, you can see, in the barrier...about 2 feet wide and 2 feet high

GM: And the sprinklers in the casino come on!

Kyle: Good...Kyle summons the Broken Sign.

GM: you're having trouble doing that...it's hard to try and focus on the image of the Broken Pattern. . .

Part Three: Is Captain Kirk in the House?

Larissa: Larissa decides to move toward Kyle to see if she can help in any way::

GM: Larissa, the sprinklers have just come on and while there aren't any alarms you figure the sprinklers are a definite bad sign

GM: Okay, Kyle has seemed to punch a visible hole in the magical barrier around the casino control room. You can see it as a 2 foot diameter tunnel, about 2 feet off the ground.

GM: It goes, evidently, straight into the control room.

Larissa: Um Kyle do you realize we are about to get wet?

Kyle: Eh, least of our problems. ::Straining::

Kyle: I'm goin' in! Try...to...open from...other...side.

Larissa: (I am assuming Larissa is getting wet?)

Kyle: ::Careful of water...tries to dive through hole. Has abandoned BP by this pt.::

GM: well, Larissa's getting wet is going to be seemingly a minor issue, for she turns and sees that one of the strange slot machines is pulling itself off of its resting spot...and has begun to roll in the direction of Larissa and the breach

GM: Kyle, you manage to squeeze through the hole, it beginning to close even as you were traversing it...and you come out into a very crowded but dry control room. The whole place is wall to wall computers wires and other stuff

Larissa: :: Larissa looks up at the ceiling to see it there is any light fixtures::

Kyle: ::Kyle looks for a terminal of any kind.::

GM: Larissa, the handle on the machine has started to swing up and down like a blade...it looks pretty nasty if it hits you with it or runs you over.

GM: There are light fixtures...mainly globular in nature, but some ;chandelier types'

GM: Kyle, you can find a multiplicity of terminals. some seemingly unconnected, one large one on and glowing in phosphorescent green

Larissa: ::Larissa decides to push of the floor with her feet and to grab a light fixture and use it to

Larissa: swing as far away from the slice and dice machine as she can::

Kyle: ::Approach working terminal. Check it out. With eyeballs and Sight.::

GM: Okay, Larissa, you manage to jump and grab the light fixture, but its clear its not going to hold your weight long...you can feel it start to pull from the ceiling. You are safe, from the machine while up there. You figure you can swing a few yards in any direction

GM: Kyle...that main terminal reeks of what has to be cybertech flavored magic. A second field around it like the one you just penetrated, higher strength

GM: Larissa, the slice and dice slot is coming from the south. To the west is the barrier and the control room. East is a wall...north is more casino.

Kyle: ::Great:: ::Starts to work on the protective field, trying to finesse it.::

Larissa: (how close is it to me?)

GM: It's nearly under you Larissa. Kyle, you begin to work on the field...you figure time is your ally. You can break it given some time

Kyle: ::Shouting to Larissa:: Keep hanging in there! I think I may be able to hack this thing!

Larissa: :: Okay then Larissa swings to the south to jump behind it and the run::

Kyle: ::Assesses the use of his Spells Death magical virus, his spell un-racker, and general sorcerer futzer, the smart counterspell.:: (Does he think it'll work on this thing?)

GM: All right. Larissa, you manage to land behind the machine and it makes noise as it tries to turn around. In the meantime, you have run into the casino once more. You have plenty of options...a staircase up...the Doors to back outside...casino east and west.

GM: Just one thing to worry about. Many of the slot machines are starting to make ominous noises of their own

GM: Kyle: You think that the counterspells might be slightly hampered by the technology. They could help but not do the job alone

Larissa: oh this is just not my day!!!!

Kyle: (Ah, it's based on the same principals as a virus, though.)

Larissa: ::Larissa tries the stairs in hope that the slot maching can't get up them::

Kyle: ::Hoping it'll speed the process, Kyle casts SpellsDeath against the room. He'll let it start working on the barriers and continue pulling at them with his magic, trying to trace down the underpinnings and pull them out.::

GM: okay Kyle...you cast the spell, evidently with success and are pleased to watch the spell start to attack the barriers at the same time you do so...

Kyle: ::Carefully assessing the effects, trying to pin down the odd flavor of the magic.::

GM: Larissa, you climb the stairs without difficulty, the machines cannot follow and in fact two of them circle the bottom of the staircase. The second floor of this place is dominated by strange curved tables with seats in front of them.

Kyle: (Does the barrier seem mainly physical? Does Kyle think he could cast a conjuration targeted on the outside of the control room?)

GM: There is also several spinning wheels...including several horizontal and one huge vertical one.

GM: Kyle thinks that trying to conjure something outside might backfire and wind up dispelled, inside the barrier with Kyle or worse mutated and screwed up

Kyle: ::Keeps on working on those barriers. Focusing his attention on the terminal::

Larissa: Oh this could be bad too. :;Larissa keeps a eye on the wheels and then has an idea. She tries to take one of the wall and then use it to hurl at the machines...hopefully destroying some of them::

GM: The magic is rather utlitarian to Kyle...no real distinctive style...save its easy compatability with the tech here. You're more than halfway through the barrier to the terminal. It'll be yours very soon.

GM: Okay Larissa, as you approach the one on the wall, it starts to spin of its own accord. Your instincts tell you that it might be better to duck or get cover....

Kyle: ::Whistling while he works.::

GM: Oh Kyle...as you reach the 3/4 mark, you start to smell something. He thinks it might simply be ozone, but the concentration is increasing rather rapidly.

Kyle: (Burning circuitry perhaps?)

GM: You don't know; could be a defense mechanism. Too much of it WILL incapacitate you.

Larissa: ::Larissa decides to dive under one of the chairs:

Larissa: Hurry it up Kyle!

GM: Okay Larissa, you dive under a chair as with a shriek and evil sound the tines of the vertical wheel fly off of it, filling the air with the small missiles. Larissa is under good cover though.

Larissa: (hmm have an idea. Can she use the chair to deflect some of the missles to go over the railing?)

GM: She can deflect some of the missiles, sure

Larissa: (okay then she will try that)

GM: okay, Larissa gets to a hunched position, and uses the chair to deflect the missiles away from her, and to fall to the casino floor below. She can see that the Big Wheel is about out of them.

Kyle: Kyle speaks the Burst of Psyche word and tries to drive through the remaining barrier faster, brute forcing it.::

GM: okay, Larissa, the missile attack has abated...and there are no immediate threats. You do note, however, what seems to be another entrance to the control room on this floor.

Kyle: ::Kyle starts to break a sweat. ::

GM: Larissa, actions?

Larissa: :: Decides to try for the door::

GM: okay, Larissa. You find, unlike the other Door, that there is no Barrier. You can force the Door with your strength if you want to.

GM: Kyle, you are nearly there, but you are choking on that ozone something terrible.

Larissa: :yes I force it open::

GM: The computer seems to be aware that it needs to hold out only a little longer and Kyle will be incapacitated...it seems to be trying to reinforce that barrier as you and the virus tear it down. You're winning, but not as fast as you'd like

Kyle: ::Can Kyle sense the computer-mind near the terminal? He wants to try to engage it with Psyche.::

GM: And then...a sudden gust of fresh air invades Kyle's space, saving him for the moment...Larissa, you find you have opened a passageway filled nearly wall to wall with strange equipment, and a lot of technology...but there is a way through.

GM: There is some of the mind near here, Kyle, beyond that barrier in the terminal itself...and you are through.

GM: The terminal lies naked and exposed

Kyle: (Whew) ::Kyle's concentrating on seeking the mind behind the machine, either phsycial access to the terminal or direct.::

Kyle: ::Kyle steps up to the terminal and lays his hands on it. He's not interested in typing, though. He is going to try to make mental contact with the AI behind the show.::

Larissa: ::Larissa steps inside and begins to make her way thorugh::

Kyle: Let's see how big the mighty Oz is, he quips. ::He's looking rather annoyed at this

point.::

GM: okay, Larissa, you find yourself picking through the corridor, and find a small staircase down...at the bottom you can see the form of Kyle.

GM: Kyle, your mind reaches out and connects to the psyche of the AI. It's not that spectacular, at least this piece, but it has the power of tech behind it.

Kyle: ::Kyle tries to analyze it, see what makes it tick.::

GM: "Why Why disturb me?"

Kyle: Why did you try to kill me? Where are the living inhabitants of this place?

GM: "Ruin the Body. Ruin my mind. Inhabitants gone. Inhabitants ruin my body."

Kyle: I see. How about if you let old Uncle Kyle try to fix you up, then? ::Trying to find the part that's broke, the code that's gone bad. Searching. Finessing.::

Larissa: ::Larissa head toward Kyle::

GM: Larissa, you notice that there is one of the casino machines outside of the control room, ominously "pacing" in front of it

GM: "Leave me! do not disturb me! Begone!"

Kyle: You're damaged. You need help. ::soothing, coercing::

Kyle: (Am I getting beyond this node, closer to the center of the thing?)

GM to Kyle: you see that this AI seems to have been an accident, having become sentient by accident rather than design. It's a mess. You think that the core of it is under this building. You can reach it psychically from here

Kyle: ::Whispering to self:: Fascinating...

Larissa: (near a door)

GM: Larissa, you notice that the Door is starting to be hit by the casino machine

Kyle: ::Sends his mind to the core, seeking out the ego.::

GM: as if it was trying to knock it down

Larissa: Well I guess somethings taking a little longer to learn

Kyle: (Let me know when he hits its "Self" the ubermind or center of its conciousness.)

Larissa: (is it by kyle door or door I went through?)

GM: Kyle Door

GM: in other words, right THERE

Kyle: Just relax, Uncle Kyle knows just what you need. We're here to help...

Larissa: ::Larissa runs back the way she came and then grabs a couple projectiles from the floor.....::

GM: Kyle, you have found the so called ubermind...the largest piece of the AI. It's

connected to a half dozen minor intelligences, including the one here in the control room

Larissa: ::She then gets into a position from the second floor to hurdle objects at the said machine::

Kyle: ::Tries to bring it into the Country of the Mind, to separate it's psychic identity, isolate it, and bring it into himself.::

GM: It's stronger...trying to contact it might be a little dangerous.

Kyle: ::Kyle laughs at danger. =) haha::

Kyle: ::He starts by isolating it from the minor minds, save the one he's accessing through. He isn't trying to do any damage.::

GM: okay, Larissa, you get a few of the projectiles and start throwing them at the casino slot machine. It stops trying to bash the door and starts circling, as if trying to find the source of the danger

GM: Kyle: you aren't so sure you can bring this thing into a country of the mind. It's pretty alien and doing so might be bad for Kyle's sanity...since the machine would have the defending terrain

Kyle: ::Once he's got that far, he'll try to bring it into the CoM. Cut it off from the power source.::

Kyle: (What's his assessment of reprogramming it from the outside with a moral imperative? Might take a while or might be able to do it before it kills us both? He doesn't want to damage it, but he will if he has no other choice.)

Kyle: ::Kyle starts looking for a shutdown code. Just in case.::

Larissa: ::Larissa grabs a projectile, turns of lights for top of stairs, Breaks a light and ties wire around projectile, then she hurls it to land in the machine. Next she turns back on the lights::

GM: (reprogramming would definitely take a long while to do it properly. The machine might die or you two die first)

GM: kay, as Kyle tries to assault the uberintellect and bring it into COM, Larissa manages, with her jury rig set up and watching some SF/horror movies with Brandeigh, sends 240 volts of electricity down and into the slot machine destroyer.

GM: It stops...fried in its tracks.

GM: especially since the still working sprinklers don't help matters. larissa just manages to avoid getting a shock

Larissa: (LOL forgot about that)

GM: Kyle, you bring the ubermind into the COm...and you are immediately launched into a weird three dimensional space filled with geometric designs that look like webs.

Larissa: ::Larissa leaves the lights on so that the whole wet floor will be electrified so any other machines will die too. She then goes back though control doo and to Kyle::

GM: While your psyche is higher, you feel yourself definitely in a disadvantaged situation, since a swarm of small spider like creatures are approaching from every direction.

Kyle: ::Kyle assumes the shape of the Lord of Illusions, flaming hair, coppery tatoos snaking around half his darkened body, the works.::

GM: all right Larissa, you go through the upper door and find Kyle staring blankly into the terminal screen.

Kyle: ::He raises his hand, and exerts control, raising a ring of fire around himself to ward off the spiders, but not going offensive. Just a play for a bit of control.:: Name yourself! Does the Mind have a name?

GM: all right Kyle, you complete the transformation just as the compuspiders, a hybrid of tech and biology start getting close

GM: The Mind needs no name. The Mind is one::

Larissa: Am I really that boring?

Larissa: ::Larissa sits down to wait for the absentee Kyle::

Kyle: Then What am I? You are not alone in this world. With intelligence, with thought, comes responsibility.

Kyle: ::Some drool dribbles down Kyle's chin in response to Larissa's question.::

GM: Larissa, as you look at the terminals, you notice that, outside, the storm is much worse than you and kyle saw when you came in. One of the monitors shows an outside view and things look like a full blizzard

Larissa: Hmm Kyle must be pissing it off!

GM: :Leave this world. Leave the Body and do not come again, else be calcified:

GM: The spiders are running up into the ring of fire. Some are getting fried, but they are starting to make firebreaks with their dead bodies

GM: shortly, they will be able to penetrate it Kyle

Kyle: ::Kyle raises into the air, out of reach.:: Very well. You cannot be permitted to continue. I am sorry. ::Regretfully, Kyle begins to manipulate the landscape, increasing the intensity of the fire, making it burn hotly, trying to burn the place down, penetrate to the core.::

Kyle: (He's trying not to kill it at this point.)

Larissa: okay continue

GM: Larissa was watching the monitors as Kyle...Kyle is trying to manipulate the country of the mind, trying to increase the heat.

GM: Kyle starts fanning the flames, but not before ONE, solitary spider makes it through, and sinks its mouth on Kyle's ankle. It dies immediately but Kyle, you start to feel some sort of paralysis in the limb

GM: The fire flame is higher and the spiders are still in at bay.

Kyle: (I took off flying first, before upping the heat. Unless that failed.)

GM: You can't seem to fly. You're stuck on a 'plane in this 3-d environment.

Kyle: (OK, this is not good.)

GM: In fact things are a little worse since Kyle can see that there are spiders which are coming from above and below now the ring will not block them

Kyle: ::Kyle attempts to go invisible, mask his presence.::

GM: Larissa, any other actions?

Larissa: (nope just waiting)

Larissa: (oh wait a sec...)

Larissa: ::Larissa touches Kyle::

Larissa: (she just touches his arm to see if she can a) sense any danger or B) get to where he is...

GM: all righty. Suddenly, as Larissa touches Kyle, she is drawn into the mental contact unwillingly

GM: Kyle, you suddenly see the vision of Larissa appear next to you in this web like dimensional space.

GM: Larissa, there is a ring of fire around him, but the threats are coming from above and below as well as outside the ring

GM: You also notice what Kyle has not...his left leg is swelling and has turned a light shade of blue.

Kyle: Welcome to our little nightmare, cousin. ::Kyle smiles sardonically.::

GM: A booming voice echoes from everywhere.

Kyle: ::He breaks off disappearing for now.::

GM: :LEAVE the body!:

GM: :Or you will be incorporated:

Kyle: You got it pal. Let us leave, and we won't kill you. But don't blame me when you get bored after a few millinea of solitude.

Larissa: Sure, love to leave.

Larissa: Um Kyle your leg isn't looking to good

Larissa: (threats above???clarify please)

Kyle: That's a sign that I'm not faring too well here. It won't carry over to my real leg. . .I hope.

GM: All right. with a sudden massive headache to the pair of you, your awarenesses return to the main control room and the real world

GM: Kyle, your leg is fine, but you have a very strange sense of disorientation. You feel best when not moving at all.

Larissa: Okay cousin, This place sucks. Is there any reason we shouldn't just trash this place?

GM: An announcement comes over the speaker.

GM: :Leave the Body! :Leave the body":

Kyle: Well, for one, I told it we wouldn't kill it if it let us go. I say we bug out. I'm feeling

a little woosy.

Kyle: We're going, we're going.

Larissa: Okay um how should we leave? Can't go out to the casino...it's um not a good idea.

Kyle: Why might that be? We'll need to be moving if your Pattern is to work.

Larissa: Because I kinda um made the floor one big elecrtic field

Kyle: (Kyle isn't aware of this, but didn't she come in a door from an upper floor?)

Kyle: I see.

Larissa: (yeah but I made the bottom floor all electrified)

GM: Yes there is that but it stil winds up going to the casino eventually.

Kyle: ::To the Body/Mind thing:: Look, we want to go. Think you could turn off the electricity to the main floor for us?

Larissa: The top floor is okay but the bottom floor is wiped

GM: The electricity is my life. The power of my blood. The power of my soul

Larissa: (of course if we have rubber soles on......)

Kyle: Certainly, but you can shunt off the circuits on the main floor of the Casino for a moment, can't you?

Kyle: (How's Kyle's naseau/disorientation?)

GM: (still nauseous as all hell)

Kyle: ::Sotto voce to Larissa:: I'm not liking the looks of this...

GM: Abruptly and without a word all the lights go out

Kyle: Thank you.

GM: The only light is the glow of some emergency bulbs

Larissa: ::while the talk goes on, Larissa pulls out a trump and tries Martin::

GM: Larissa after a few moments you get Martin

GM: "Hello cousin? Is that you Larissa? Why are you in the dark?"

Kyle: May I? ::Kyle extends a hand, asking for permission to join the contact::

Larissa: Can you pull us through? ::Holds out a hand to Martin and grabs Kyle::

Larissa: Long story. . . tell you after you pull us through

GM (as Martin): "All right, although you may not like this..."

Kyle: ::Smiles at Martin:: Indeed...

GM: You grab Kyle and the pair of you go through....and into the center of that party.

Larissa: Oh how did I know he was going to say that. . .

Larissa: (LOL just remember what we are wearing and what we look like)

GM: Flora and Asteria look at the pair of you, and Flora says. "Just Where have YOU two been?"

Kyle: ::Bows:: Your Knight in plasteel armor at your service, Madame ::Falls on his face::

Kyle: =)

GM: LOL

GM: The End!

GM: You win

GM: ;)

THE END ?
