Mark^NPC

Like Lorine, Mark was raised in Amber. Like Lorine he stayed behind for the war. Beyond that, he is nothing like Lorine.

Where his cousin is outgoing and boistrous, Mark is quiet and introspective. In a group he prefers to remain a spectator, watching others without comment. He also seldom justifies or explains his actions to others and if people want to grumble about that, they can.

Despite all that, he is frequently a diplomat who would rather negotiate, getting everyone as much of what they want as possible without anyone having to die. He feels it can be done in most people-to-people situations and, amazingly, when it's just him and the principals, it usually is.

Mark seldom leads fighting units, preferring the lonely roles of scout and spy, but he does what needs done and has seen combat. He's very good at it, he just doesn't like it. When Oberon gave the orders to march for Chaose, Mark earned the dubious honor of being the only person to tell Oberon, and his father, "No." He had excellent reasons, he simply chose not the share them. In retrospect, Gerard, Lorine and Amber are eternally grateful for the sacrifice.
